• Jacky Briffa , You have been working with FTIAS for an incredible 30 years, please can you tell us a little bit about your career progression with us?

It’s been 30 years already! Back in 1993, I applied for a General Office Clerk position with Frosch Touristik GmbH. I vividly recall my first day, spent stamping hundreds of invoices from one of our largest partners at the time. The company has consistently provided me with opportunities to take on more responsibilities, and what stands out the most is that working here feels like a never-ending story – in both challenging and rewarding ways. This duality is what keeps my job intriguing; every day brings new possibilities.  Over the years, I’ve gained valuable insights from my superiors, and now, I strive to assist my colleagues in their professional growth, encouraging them to aim higher each day. Navigating through both good and tough times has its challenges, but it’s this dynamic environment that adds a layer of excitement to my role. Tomorrow always holds new adventures, and I’m grateful for the continuous learning and growth that define my journey at this company.

  • Being one of three women in FTI Group Malta’s strategic team, how do you feel your personal input have benefitted the company?

I believe our strategic team comprises individuals with diverse characters, which is beneficial in fostering collaboration and making decisions that contribute to the company’s success. As a woman, navigating through professional and personal responsibilities can be challenging, as there are times when it feels like others may not fully comprehend the unique challenges faced by women juggling roles as mothers and colleagues simultaneously. However, having a significant representation of women, constituting half of the strategic team, plays a crucial role in balancing various aspects of our daily requirements. This diversity ensures a more comprehensive understanding of the diverse needs and perspectives within the team, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of our decision-making processes.

  • What have been some of your biggest successes with your career with us?

When considering my accomplishments during my tenure with the company, one standout success is my direct involvement in shaping ideas and innovating processes. This has resulted in substantial cost reductions while ensuring meticulous control over these enhancements. Additionally, a significant achievement lies in my collaborative efforts with diverse systems software developers. Together, we have consistently enhanced and refined the logic and processes within our Invoice Processing applications. These successes underscore the progression of my career, with each milestone reinforcing a deep appreciation for the journey from the initial stages to where I stand today.

  • Being head of the Business Process Management Team do you consider yourself a role model for other women wanting to get into Tech, and what advice would you give them?

I firmly believe there’s a key principle to remember – I often view myself as less knowledgeable in the technical aspects. Consequently, collaborating closely with my colleagues and seeking their advice before making decisions is an essential practice in my work. Recognizing that ideas alone don’t culminate in finished products; I emphasize the significance of openness to suggestions for anyone aspiring to thrive in this environment. The ability to unite the team towards a common goal is paramount, and fostering a collaborative spirit ensures a more effective and cohesive work dynamic.

  • Can you give some examples of how FTI Group Malta champions women in the workplace?

At our company, we are deeply committed to supporting women in the workplace, and we take pride in fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. One of the most significant indicators of our commitment is the substantial representation of women in leading roles within our organization. Currently, we have 56 women holding key positions, which constitutes more than half of our team.

We understand the value that diverse perspectives bring to our organization, and we are dedicated to creating an inclusive culture that not only celebrates the achievements of women but also provides a supportive framework for their continued success. Our ongoing efforts in this regard underscore our commitment to being a workplace that champions diversity, equality, and the advancement of women.
