New Year’s Barbecue

‘Rain … will it, won’t it?’ That’s the question that Sports and Social Committee members are constantly asking themselves in the run-up to the annual New Year’s Barbecue. And this year was no exception because the weather was playing up all day and it was touch and-go till the very last minute. But ultimately it din not happen and staff members, who turned up in droves, were greeted with homemade mulled wine that immediately served to take the chill off the evening! Those present had the chance...

Donation to ‘Children’s Dreams’ and ‘Nahseb Fik’

For the very first time, this Christmas, FTIAS, MP International, and MP Malta decided to support two initiatives aimed at helping both children, who are being raised in residential homes or whose families face various social difficulties, and also the elderly, another vulnerable group within our society. To this end, all three Companies raised funds in aid of the ‘Children’s Dream’ project, an independent initiative which is held in collaboration with the Foundation for Social Welfare Service, and the ‘Naħseb Fik’ project, with the intention of fulfilling the...

Christmas Gala Party

The New Renaissance Hall at Montekristo Estates was the perfect setting for this year’s Christmas Gala Party. During the earlier part of the evening, the four-piece band, Skarlet, together with lead singers Sandrina and Andre, set the party mood going and entertained the guests with cover versions of many favourite songs like Ed Sheeran’s ‘Castle on the Hill’, Zucchero’s ‘Diavolo in Me’, and of course, several of Coldplay’s musical repertoire, including ‘Adventures of a Lifetime’. The partying continued into the early hours of the morning, with DJ...

Children’s Christmas Party

This year, the Sports & Social Committee kicked off their Christmas activities with the ‘Children’s Christmas Party’ held in the Lounge Area. Having a young workforce also means that we are privileged to share happy moments when our staff members become parents and, in fact, year on year, more and more children are signed up for this annual event!. This year it fell to Santa’s Elves, together with a helping hand from Mickey and Minnie Mouse, to entertain our precious little guests with different activities planned for...

Poinsettias in aid of Hospice Malta

No flower says ‘Christmas’ like a poinsettia does and there’s actually a very sweet old Mexican legend about how poinsettias (which are actually native to a region in Southern Mexico) and Christmas go together which you may wish to Google (when you are punched out . And the spirit of Christmas was very present in our offices too because early in December staff members had the opportunity to purchase poinsettias through ‘Hospice Malta’, so that all profits from the proceeds could go to financing the sterling work...

Blood Donation Drive

December is the month associated with giving and receiving. And what better way to demonstrate this than by organising a blood donation drive and supporting people in need? Giving blood is a simple thing to do and is really and truly the cheapest, but most priceless, gift that one can give because although it costs nothing, it can mean everything to a patient and make a big difference in the lives of others! That’s why on the 6th of December employees from FTIAS and Meeting Point were invited...

The Treasure Hunt Series Continues…

Fridays always seem to be the most keenly-anticipated day of the week but there was even more eagerness than usual for Friday 19th May because a team building event was being held on that day, which also brought to an end the programme of activities planned by the current Sports & Social Committee 2016/17. The Committee members left the best activity for last, achieving a record-breaking attendance, through the much sought-after Treasure Hunt activity, in Valletta. By working together as a team, participants needed to answer several questions and provide photographic evidence...

Mother’s Day

To mark Mother’s Day, FTIAS and Meeting Point decided to surprise their employees, who are also mothers, by presenting them with a scented body lotion. The initiative was very much appreciated and there were smiles all around for the rest of the day! As one of the young mothers at FTIAS, Annmarie Scerri commented, “I really appreciate the SSC’s gesture because it shows that the Company understands the difficulties mummies face, every day, being a full-time mother and having their responsibilities at work, at the same time.” (The photo shared on the...
